PowerPoint & PDF slides, exactly as designed

• Drop in a deck and every slide becomes a picture automatically. Drag or upload a PowerPoint (.pptx, .ppt), OpenDocument (.odp) or PDF file into Announcements and Crown Cast exports each slide as a high-resolution PNG, in order. No more saving slides as images by hand.
• 1:1 with PowerPoint. When PowerPoint is installed, Crown Cast uses it to render the slides, so photos, fonts, tables and shapes look identical to the original. A 13-slide test deck matched PowerPoint's own export pixel for pixel.
• Works without PowerPoint too. If PowerPoint isn't installed, Crown Cast uses LibreOffice when available, and otherwise its own built-in renderer. PDFs are converted directly.
• True shape on screen. 16:9 and 4:3 decks keep their real proportions, up to 1920 pixels wide. The projector shows the whole slide instead of cropping it.
• Hidden slides stay hidden, and each slide is named after its deck (for example, “Sunday Sermon – Slide 3”) and placed in the folder you have open.
• Large decks no longer run out of space. Slide images are stored in the app's media library rather than browser storage, and are cleaned up when you remove the slides.
• A progress banner shows which slide is being prepared, and the import button pauses until the import is done.

Pastor View

• An accurate live preview of everything on the projector: verses, hymns, media, slideshows, the welcome screen and the whiteboard, including imported PowerPoint slides.
• A clock, a sermon timer and a live status indicator, plus “Note X of Y” so the pastor always knows where they are.
• Text size controls, swipe navigation on phones and keyboard shortcuts. The screen stays awake during the service.
• A reconnect banner appears if the connection drops, and the pairing screens are translated.
• Fixed: the blackout button now shows the correct state, and changing settings no longer clears the preview.

Remote View

• Correct “Now Showing” and player titles, including hymn names.
• A projector status tile shows whether the projector is live or blacked out.
• The player keeps working through blackout after content is loaded mid-service.
• Easier to read gold buttons and a compact player on phones.

Security & reliability

• A full security review, done by hand and with automated penetration testing. It closed several vulnerabilities in the phone remote, Pastor View, PowerPoint handling and file imports.
• Safer device pairing. Remembered phones and tablets get a fresh access key every time they reconnect. Devices unused for 30 days must be approved again, and repeated pairing requests are limited.
• Updated third-party components with known security issues.
• Steadier under load. This release fixes timing problems and resource leaks across the app, Bible import and the remote server's startup. “Open Remote View” now opens in your normal web browser.

Installer

• A new black-and-gold installer with the Crown Cast crown logo on every page.
• An updated license agreement. Crown Cast stays free on unlimited computers but may not be resold or rebranded. Please read the agreement shown during installation.

Updating & reporting bugs

Download the Windows package above, extract the ZIP and run the installer. Close Crown Cast before installing the update. Phones and tablets that haven't connected in over 30 days will need to be approved again.

Windows projector & verse display fixes

• More reliable first-verse projection. The projector loads the selected content when it is ready, fixing the startup timing that could briefly show the welcome screen when clicking a verse.
• Rapid verse changes keep the newest selection. Older startup updates no longer replace the content you just selected.
• Blackout cancels pending verse transitions. A verse that was waiting to fade in no longer overwrites a newer blackout command.
• More reliable projector window opening. A load-completion check helps ensure the output window becomes visible even if its initial ready-to-show event does not arrive.

Projector & OBS screens

• Temporary screen choices no longer replace your preferred screens. If you send the projector or Lower 3rd output to a fallback display while its usual screen is off, the original assignment stays saved across app restarts.
• Matching resolutions no longer send output to the wrong monitor. Crown Cast keeps an existing display ID when available. If Windows changes that ID, it only rematches a uniquely named monitor; ambiguous matches keep the saved assignment instead of guessing.
• A disconnected projector stays assigned. Settings no longer marks a different monitor as “Applied” or uses that unrelated monitor when you open the projector.
• Screen identity is included in settings recovery. Projector selections, monitor metadata and the Lower 3rd monitor identity are backed up together, so recovered preferences retain the information needed to recognise your screens.

Saving & recovery

• Recovered notes and preferences load before the interface starts. Startup defaults can no longer overwrite settings while their backup is still being restored.
• Old pending saves no longer bring deleted content back. Storage reads use the current saved data, writes report whether they succeeded, and intentional deletions and factory resets are preserved.
• More reliable Bible data migration. Failed items remain available for another attempt, database changes finish before success is reported, and bundled Bible files load correctly in the installed desktop app.

Remote & Pastor View

• Stronger device pairing and reconnection. Remote devices now reconnect with a private device credential rather than a device ID alone. Removing a paired device also disconnects its active sessions, and remote state requests require pairing.
• Previously paired phones and tablets need approval once more after installing these changes. This creates the new credential for future reconnections.

Playback, slides & controls

• Fullscreen and blackout have separate shortcuts. Use Ctrl+Shift+F for the main window fullscreen toggle; F11 remains available for projector blackout. The sidebar and shortcut help show the updated binding.
• Replacing a PowerPoint deck with a shorter one no longer leaves the viewer on a missing slide. The current slide stays within the new deck’s range.
• Bible comparisons follow your latest selection. A slower response from an earlier selection no longer replaces the newer result.
• Audio playback uses the new track before applying play or pause. Media range handling also correctly supports requests for the end of a file and rejects ranges outside the file.

Branding

• Crown Cast has a new logo — the crowned “CC” mark on a deep royal blue tile — and it now appears everywhere the app shows its own identity: the window and taskbar icon, the installer and uninstaller, the Crown Cast project file type, the browser tab icon on every screen, and the sidebar header, where it sits beside the app name and stays visible when the sidebar is collapsed.
• The phone remote and Pastor View wear the same badge. Their headers show the real logo instead of a generic crown outline, their tab icons match, and their default colours are the brand's blue and gold rather than the old purple and green.
• The website carries the new mark in its header and footer in place of the crown emoji, and now ships the full set of site and home-screen icons it previously pointed at but never included — bookmarks and phone shortcuts no longer fall back to a blank page icon.

Theme

• A new Crown theme, drawn from the colours of the logo itself: crown gold on the icon's deep royal blue, with the same navy field behind panels and cards. It's the theme Crown Cast now starts with, and the one it falls back to if a saved theme can't be found. Every other theme is untouched and still one click away in Settings → App Theme.
• Crown Cast no longer flashes a black or white window before the interface paints — the main window, the launcher and the loading screen all open on the theme's navy background.

Improved

• The whole interface feels noticeably faster. A global rule meant only for switching between light and dark themes was quietly applying to the entire app, so every hover, selection and button press faded over a third of a second. Interactions now settle in about half that time, hover lifts are subtler so dense lists no longer wobble as the pointer crosses them, and clicks acknowledge immediately.
• Emoji used as icons have been replaced with proper icons throughout Settings, the feature tabs, dialogs and notifications, so the app reads consistently at any size and in both light and dark themes.
• The Broadcast button is now called Lower 3rd (Spanish: “Tercio Inferior”), matching what it actually does. The rename now carries through everywhere the old wording remained — the toolbar, the sidebar status, the dashboard card, the Bible tab, the queue planner, the prompts and the toasts.

Fixed

• Your chosen projector and broadcast screens are remembered across restarts. Windows reassigns display IDs on reboot, which previously wiped the saved choice and silently fell back to a default screen. Crown Cast now recognises the same physical screens by their resolution and name, and keeps your choice while a screen is merely unplugged.
• Moving a live lower third to another screen no longer strands the controls: Close and Pause Broadcast stay usable, instead of leaving Stop as the only way to clear the verse.
• Toasts no longer slide sideways when the pointer crosses them, and dropdowns, modals and the queue drawer no longer lift like clickable cards.

Improved

• The Broadcast button is now called Lower 3rd, so its name matches what it actually puts on screen. The rename follows through everywhere that button's wording appeared — the top control bar, the sidebar status, the dashboard card, the send buttons in the Bible tab and queue planner, the Pause/Resume buttons, the “display unavailable” prompt, and the screen-move notifications — in both English and Spanish (“Tercio Inferior”). Settings keeps its existing broadcast wording.

Fixed

• Your projector and Lower 3rd screen choices now survive closing the app. Windows hands out new display IDs after a restart, which used to make Crown Cast quietly forget the saved screens and reset them to a default. It now recognizes your screens by their resolution and name instead of the ID, so it reopens on the same physical displays — and a screen that's simply switched off no longer wipes the saved choice, it just waits for that screen to come back. Selections made moments before quitting are also saved properly now instead of being lost on a fast exit.
• The Lower 3rd button opens on the screen you assigned rather than falling back to the “which screen should I use?” prompt when the saved ID has gone stale.
• Moving the Lower 3rd to another screen no longer leaves its controls stuck: after the move, Close works again and Pause is no longer greyed out, so Stop isn't the only way to clear a live verse.

Improved

• Broadcast screen selection is now remembered properly: Crown Cast picks a sensible screen the first time instead of guessing wrong, saves whichever screen you choose — including one picked from the "display unavailable" prompt — and recognizes your screens again after a reboot or cable swap, so it no longer asks which screen to use on every verse.
• Audio and video are now treated as one program output: starting a projected video stops the music, and starting music clears the projected video, so sound never overlaps and only one ON AIR / STANDBY bar shows at a time.

Fixed

• Prevented a data-loss bug where imported videos, music and large images silently disappeared from the Media tab after closing the app. Uploaded media is now stored in a permanent media library on the computer and loads back complete on the next start — in the main window, projector, preview and broadcast alike, with video and audio seeking intact. Removing media also deletes its file, so the library never fills up with leftovers.
• Broadcast Stop and Pause now work reliably: a paused or blacked-out verse no longer reappears on its own, Stop fully clears the last verse so it doesn't come back when the broadcast screen is reopened, Pause is available again after an app restart, and broadcasts started from the phone remote can now be stopped and paused from the main window.
• Restoring a backup no longer hides media or loses music: backups (and factory reset) now cover your image and video folders and the audio track list, and media from older backups whose folder is missing is moved back to the main view instead of becoming invisible.
• Mini-player bars no longer "double stack": the audio, video and Bible bars now sit flush together with no gap between them, and the video play button uses the video player's own colors instead of the audio player's.

Added

• New Blackout button at the top of the control bar instantly sends the projector to a clean black screen. Unlike Pause Projector it stays available even before anything has been projected, so you can hold a black background between items.
• A global video player now controls the projected video from any tab, mirroring the audio mini-player — ON AIR / STANDBY status, a scrub bar, play/pause, loop, next/previous and stop — without having to return to the Media tab.
• Smart display fallback: if a projector or broadcast screen assigned in Settings is switched off, Crown Cast now asks whether to show the output on another connected screen or wait for the assigned one, and automatically moves it back the moment that screen reconnects, so output never lands silently on the wrong display.
• Keyboard shortcuts help: press ? anywhere (or choose "Keyboard Shortcuts" in the command palette) for a bilingual cheat sheet of every global and projector shortcut. Ctrl/Cmd + 1–8 now jumps between sections.
• Undo for the queue: removing an item or clearing the queue now shows an Undo toast — single items return to their original position and a cleared queue is restored in full.
• Operating-system media controls: the audio player now appears in your OS media overlay, and hardware play/pause/next/previous media keys control playback.
• Command-palette recents and a live service clock: your last 8 actions appear under a "Recent" header for one-tap reuse, and the sidebar now shows the current time.

Improved

• Videos in the Media tab now have their own 2GB limit (previously a shared 500MB cap) so full-length videos import without being wrongly rejected, and .m4v and .mkv files are now supported.
• When a non-looping video reaches its end, the projector now stops and goes cleanly to black instead of freezing on the final frame.
• Faster Bible and hymn browsing — long chapters such as Psalm 119 stay smooth, "in queue" badges are computed instantly, and the command palette loads content once per open instead of on every keystroke.
• Modernized notifications (stacking toasts with hover-to-pause and duplicate coalescing) and made dialogs, the command palette and sidebar fully keyboard- and screen-reader accessible.
• Hardened the remote-control and PowerPoint export paths and tightened link handling for safer operation.
• The sidebar version number is now always accurate, and the last native OS pop-up (queue import replace) has been replaced with the app's themed dialog.

Fixed

• Prevented a data-loss bug where the active service queue and projector settings could silently disappear after a period of time.
• Audio: music no longer keeps playing after a track is deleted or the playlist is switched; shuffle with repeat off now stops at the last track; "Play Next" inserts in the right place; and audio files chosen in the media picker are no longer misfiled as videos.
• The hymn "in queue" badge now highlights the correct hymns instead of the wrong ones.
• Dragging an announcement slide now reorders it instead of creating a duplicate.
• Queue planner: Move Up/Down and drag-and-drop now stay within folders and work correctly even on the collapsed queue tab.
• Resume Broadcast now restores the last Bible verse it showed rather than unrelated projector content.
• The Whiteboard LIVE indicator now follows the correct slide after you reorder slides.
• An emptied announcement transition time can no longer make the slideshow flicker rapidly, and corrupted saved data no longer crashes the Bible or Songs tabs.

Improved

• Main window fullscreen is now true borderless fullscreen — taskbar and window chrome are hidden without entering native fullscreen mode, so the projector window keeps its locked fullscreen state on its own display.
• F11 and the sidebar fullscreen toggle now restore your previous window size (or maximized state) cleanly when exiting fullscreen.

Fixed

• Toggling fullscreen on the main window no longer kicks the projector out of fullscreen when a verse is already being projected.
